Soulfly w/Slayer, In Flames & downthesun.
August 17th 2002
Worcester Palladium, Worcester Mass.
Raiting: 8 out of 10.
We get there at 7PM and I get my FREE ticket (thanks to MassConcerts.com for that) and I find out I already missed the first band, downthesun. No biggie, as I herd they sucked anyway. But, I got there just in time to see the greatness known as In Flames.
In Flames came out to a huge "In Flames" chant and opened up with "Bullet Ride". Too bad they only got to play 7 songs, which isn't too bad. Set list is as follows:
Bullet Ride
Behind Space
Cloud Connected (new song)
Clayman
Only for the Weak
System (new song)
Colony
They fucking rocked the house. "Colony" is one of the best songs I have ever herd live. The sound was incredible. One of the best bands I've ever seen, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed them more than Soulfly, which i'll explain next.
Soulfly was up next. And I have to say I was VERY dissapointed with there set. Mostly because they were trying to adapt to playing in front of a Slayer crowd, as they were playing more of there faster songs. And they also didn't play many older songs. The set list:
Downstroy
Seek n Strike
Spit
Jumpdafuckup/Bring It
Refuse/Resist
LOTM
THe Song Remains Insane
Fire
Drum Jam (awesome)
Tree Of Pain
Eye for an Eye (Perfect)
I was dissapointed to see that they didn't play "Roots, Bloody Roots" like they usually do, but their set was short because shitty ass Slayer had to take like 2 fucking hours to play. A big fuck you to Slayer for that. I ended up leaving after Soulfly anyway.
Overall, I give the show a 8 out of 10, mainly because In Flames fucking rocked. And Soulfly was great as usual, but it wasn't the best I've seen from them. It was good to see some of the new stuff live, which I haven't seen before besides 'Downstroy' & 'Seek N Strike'.
