Best Song: Mother
So, you're known on both sides of the Atlantic. What now? How about another concept album, this one regarding the downfalls of society. At over 80 minutes long, this two-disc set is good, but probably too gimmicky.
Disc one contains what represents the beginings and firsts of life. Discussing things of education with all three parts of "Another Brick in the Wall" and the protection of family members with "Mother". Even loss of love, with "Don't Leave Me" It gives a darkside of society, which is only starting, especially since it almost gives a more homey feeling.
Disc two contains the downfalls of fame, along with being independent in the world. This has more to do with society, as "Hey You" gives an almost lost feeling due to this new independency. It also recalls the betters of the past, with "Comfortably Numb," with how much better feeling it is as a child. However, it soon turns bad, with "Run Like Hell" having examples of how the law can take away certain rights, along with everyday urges. "The Trial" brings us to the end, with the listener being sentanced to jail, and then being "Outside The Wall" on how we're free, yet only a few are.
This CD is probably one of the best-known Pink Floyd CDs, along with their most conceptual album. However, they've lost their psychodellic roots, and Roger Waters has a more serious tone. In general, it was, and still is an eye-opening CD, though it does have its low and less important points.
